A person who laced treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and an older person became sick at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on Friday.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained objects including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member contacted the authorities about his worries.
She said the man went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson called the police a second time.
She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
